Starbucks Baristas Mock Trump-Supporting Customer…

Employees at a Starbucks location allegedly made fun of a customer for being a fan of President Donald Trump.

It happened on June 14, when Kayla Hart went into a Starbucks in Dilworth, North Carolina, wearing a “Trump for President 2016” T-shirt, reports the Daily Mail.

When she walked into the famous coffee shop chain, the cashier laughed in her face, Hart says.

And when she received her iced tea, the label on the cup had the words “BUILD A WALL” in place of her name, seemingly mocking Trump’s controversial campaign pledge to build a wall between the United States and Mexico.

According to Hart, “They shouted out build a wall and shoved a drink at me and then all the baristas in the back started cracking up laughing,” reports KDFW. “I just walked out because everyone was staring.”

When contacted by the station, Starbucks customer service issued a statement in response.

“We failed to meet this customer’s expectations of us, and we have apologized and are working directly with her to make it right,” the coffee giant said.

“This experience is not consistent with our standards or the welcoming and respectful experience we aim to provide every customer who visit our stores.

We have spoken with our store partners about this situation and are using this as a coaching opportunity for the future.”

Hart made clear that initiating a boycott of the coffee chain is not her intention. “This isn’t me trying to get people to stop going to Starbucks,” she said.

“I just want it to be put out there so people know this is what’s occurring. I don’t think it’s right you should be humiliated for wearing a T-shirt with your opinion on it.”

Trump, however, did once suggest boycotting the company over its annual Christmas holiday cups, because they are plain red and don’t feature any religious symbolism on them.

“No more ‘Merry Christmas’ at Starbucks,” he said at a campaign rally in November 2015, shortly after the cups were introduced. “Maybe we should boycott Starbucks.”

Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz has traditionally pointed his company in a liberal direction, including opposing some of Trump’s policies, reports Business Insider.

One week before the presidential election in Nov. 2016, Starbucks rolled out a green cup featuring the faces of more than a hundred people as a “symbol of unity.”

Many who interpreted the design as being anti-Trump called for a Starbucks boycott.

In January, Starbucks announced that it planned to hire 10,000 refugees worldwide in the next five years, in response to Trump’s executive order that barred certain refugees from entering the U.S.

“We are living in an unprecedented time, one in which we are witness to the conscience of our country, and the promise of the American Dream, being called into question,” Schultz wrote in a letter to Starbucks employees about the plan.
